The spirit of arts & crafts predominated in his process of learning, having started by using tradicional techniques on his ceramic pieces. It was at art school that Martim started an exploratory work method in which he risked several possible paths. He ended up making sculptural pieces using those techniques he had learned. A predominant one we can often see in his work is known as “ naked raku “ which means that there is no glaze on the finished piece, creating this ”naked” clay look. Formally, Martim Santa Rita always tries tries to obtain organic figurative shapes inspired by exotic or emblematic animals, revealing Nature in all its forms.
